Greetings from the other side of the world

Firstly i would like to apologise for not really emailing much of late, that is simply as there has not been much to rant on about, but all that is about to change....

In brief (as i cant be bothered to go into detail) i quit the newspaper – the whole point of me coming back to Bolivia – due to ‘a general disagreement’ . That was a few weeks ago and since then i have spent my time wisely researching and beginning to write stories hopefully for papers back home, and teaching English to the staff at a friends pub...then not so wisely i have been using the ‘staff discount’ at my said place of work and crazily taking on the thought that ‘half price’ should mean ‘twice as much drinking’. Hmm....not clever

Ok, so to fill you in on what was going on in La Paz life – for the Solstice thingy i went and stood at some 2000 year old ruins and froze my bits and pieces off (got tear gassed waiting to get it, one of those things, wait 6 hours for the sun to come up, queue to get into the enclosure with the ‘Sun Gate’ and get tear-gassed, oh how we laughed – not -.

Started Spanish lessons – after 6 months i might actually start using a smidging of grammar.

Got quoted in The Telegraph i.e. Matthew Hindley editor of a Bolivian newspaper The Llama Express said... etc

And that’s about it.

Anywho, after a few weeks teaching and writing a Colombian friend of mine said “i’m off home to Bogata this Friday, wanna come?” So here i am, sitting in a cafe in ‘one of the most dangerous cities in the world’ a title that is infact a load of rubbish. Its rather horrible to think to that i am actually safer here than i would be back home. This is a fantastically diverse city with such friendly people, defiantly the most surprising and not what i expected at all. Just wait till you see the pics, some bits could easily be like back home!

And finally, me and my flatmate leave the flat at the end of the month and head of travelling around Bolivia, so i may have some more stuff to tell you then. Sorry, but not much has been happening really.

Goodbye, farewell and stay safe

Matt

p.s. sorry about the more than usual abundance of spelling mistakes, i just banged this email out quick like so haven’t checked it, but what would one of my emails be without a load of spellong errers eh!?
